“Every goal you dream about has a downside that’s easy to overlook.”(Morgan Housel)

Can freedom be oppressive? It can if we fail to consider the future’s hidden downsides.

Recovering eyesight is the ultimate bliss for every blind person, isn’t it?

In his book Crashing Through, author Robert Kurson describes the story of a blind middle-aged woman.

Dr. Dan Goodman performed surgery on her eye to remove the cataract. She got her vision back.

She looked miserable when she came back after a few weeks.

She told the doctor that she was happier blind than sighted. As a blind person, she lived on welfare. She had a sheltered and safe life. Now, government officials wanted her to find a job as she had normal eyesight.

The anticipated bliss often proves to be a mirage.
