A trigger warning is a cautionary note about content that may cause fear or offence to the readers.
Trigger warnings are effective if used selectively and judiciously, like for example, protecting children from getting exposed to harmful content. Over the years, however, the precipitating warning has been used indiscriminately as a tool of political correctness.
